YA Fiction and the Adult Woman

So I'm older. A lady never tells how old. And I am addicted to YA fiction. Particularly fantasy or sci-fi romances. Why? I read books designed for older women. I also read a lot of straight up Sci-Fi. I read some new adult too. But YA is so highly addictive. Why?

I'd say I love it mostly because I remember those feelings of being a teenage girl in love. I was an all in kind of crush girl. I fell madly and deeply. Often immediately. Romance novels were a favorite of mine even then and I suppose that colored my feelings. When I read a YA novel I am transported back to when I was younger. When I'd stay up all night long just to finish something that struck my fancy. I still do that on occasion, but I have to get up and work now, so I don't have as many all nighters. I know I'm not the only 'old lady' out there reading YA, so at least I don't feel as weird as I probably should. And there are so many great YA authors out there that I love. Richelle Mead, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sarah J. Maas and Melissa Marr just to name a few. I can only aspire to be as good and well loved as them. For now, I'll just revel in the yummy YA goodness out there and write what I hope is good until I can't write anymore.
